Summer School

Welcome to St Edmund's College Summer School. The Summer School was established in 1996 and is currently the top British Council accredited summer school in the UK.

In our British Council inspection in August 2013 we were awarded 14 out of a possible 14 areas of excellence. To view our Accreditation Report, please click here. You may also like to read the article from the January 2014 issue of the EL Gazette, identifying us as 'Top of Exceptional Summer Schools'. Please click here to read the article.

St Edmund's College is England's oldest Catholic school and has a long established reputation for welcoming and educating international students. The summer school is an integral part of the College and promotes high standards of personal achievement, conduct and community spirit. These summer courses are an ideal preparation for transition to the main school or to another British school.

The educational experience provided on the summer school compliments the child's teaching and learning at home. The course offers new learning opportunities through exciting projects, theatre, educational visits, option courses and activities all designed to challenge and extend personal development and language competence. Native speakers and bilingual students are welcome.

Celebrating 20 years Welcome to St Edmund’s College Summer 2016

It gives me great pleasure to invite you to join us this summer to celebrate our twentieth summer school. If would like to book and pay straight away please do so using the form now available on the website or alternatively,  if you wish to pay online please wait until our new E-commerce website comes online in November.

To celebrate our 20th Anniversary we are giving every child free entry to a Trinity ISE examination. Exam preparation will be incorporated into class teaching in Reading, Writing, Speaking and Listening at levels B1 to C1. This popular new examination is well-known in Europe and will be a great achievement for any student.

New courses for 2016 are: Mad Science, a one week ETOS course for pupils who love science or who need motivating in science, Scuba Diving Ultimate Crew, a two week ETOS course which completes the skills and theory for PADI 1 and Open Water a weekend course which completes the PADI 1 qualification. We continue to offer the successful IELTS preparation and examination course and the Horse Riding and Stable Care course which were very successful in 2015.

This year we have adjusted our dates to start on Monday and finish on Sunday, this is to take advantage of the quieter airport conditions on Mondays and the better availability of flights. We hope that this will help everyone.

In 2015 we welcomed students from 34 different countries, had a sensational summer with amazing trips and shows. The students worked hard and were a pleasure to have in the College. We look forward to another brilliant summer.

St Edmund’s College

‘The UK’s top ranking summer school’

Since last summer we have been very busy and you will notice one or two changes at the college. We now have a stunning newly refurbished dining hall, the Headmaster has also commissioned a wonderful display of the college's history which is hanging on the walls in the Ambulacrum. You may be interested to know that 13 of our students applied to Oxford and Cambridge this year! Another outstanding achievement is that one of our students achieved 100% in both of her Chemistry AS exams.

Barbara in the admissions office is looking forward to receiving bookings and the rest of the team is busy planning another fantastic summer!
