Summer School

Welcome to St Edmund's College Summer School.  The Summer School was established in 1996 and is currently the top British Council accredited summer school in the UK.

In our British Council inspection in August 2013 we were awarded 13 out of a possible 14 areas of excellence. To view our Accreditation Report, please click here. St Edmund's College is England's oldest Catholic school and has a long established reputation for welcoming and educating international students. The summer school is an integral part of the College and promotes high standards of personal achievement, conduct and community spirit. These summer courses are an ideal preparation for transition to the main school or to another British school.

The educational experience provided on the summer school compliments the child's teaching and learning at home. The course offers new learning opportunities through exciting projects, theatre, educational visits, option courses and activities all designed to challenge and extend personal development and language competence. Native speakers and bilingual students are welcome.

SUMMER SCHOOL 2013
This year's summer school saw the arrival of 310 wonderful students from 32 different countries. We were touched by the great affection and loyalty shown by our students, parents and agents after our year of closure in 2012 when we completed extensive renovations to the College.

Both the courses in July and August were a tremendous success; amazing personalities, lots of good academic work, and plenty of fun and friendship. An impressive 100 students took City & Guilds ESOL Examinations from B1 to C2 Level and achieved a remarkable 95% pass rate. The London Theatre nights were very exciting and students loved Les Miserables, Spamalot, Wicked and Matilda. As always, we enjoyed Shakespeare at his best, taught by our brilliant Mr Jez Dobbs and seen in the gardens of  the Cambridge Colleges. Art and Sport were high profile as usual with Scuba Diving, Horse Riding, Trampolining and Zumba being the the firm favourites.

We can't wait for next summer!
