When should I book?

We accept bookings right until the start of each course.  However, we do operate a ‘first come, first served’ policy and tend to reach full capacity by then.

To guarantee a place, we recommend booking before Christmas or early in the New Year. We usually start reaching our limits for certain age groups, nationalities and genders by the end of March.

How many students of each nationality do you have?

We have a limit for students speaking each language on our Summer Schools and set this at 20% of our overall capacity.  This means we will only have a maximum of 20% of students in each Summer School speaking the same language.

How do I know that my child will be safe?

The health and welfare of our students and staff will always be our number one priority.  Everyone on the site wears lanyards & ID cards at all times, and we operate a 'closed site' whereby only employees and students of the College are allowed on site. All external contractors and guests are registered as they enter / leave the site and carefully monitored.

We complete background checks on everyone who works for us, including Safeguarding checks and past employment references.  All our staff must complete Child Protection training.

What should I bring to the Summer School?

Before the start of any course, we will send you guidance documents and ‘joining instructions’ which includes advise on what to pack and what you will need during your stay at St Edmund’s College.  Typical items include warm-weather clothing, cold-weather clothing, trainers, a towel, toiletries (toothpaste, etc.), all required medication, a mobile phone, a swimming costume, smart clothes.

How much pocket money should you bring and how is it arranged?

Whilst it depends on how much they want to spend, we recommend about £50 per week as suitable for snacks and shopping trips.  We ask that you transfer the pocket money to us through the website and we can then distribute it to the students when they are here.  For safety reasons, we discourage students from bringing large amounts of cash with them when they travel.

Can I attend religious services while at your Summer School?

Yes, we can arrange for you to attend a service for any religion / denomination.

Is your Summer School Catholic?

No, the Summer School is not religious. However, St Edmund's College is a Catholic College and everything we do is in keeping with the College's Catholic ethos and identity.

Can I share a bedroom with my friend?

We have a policy of students only sharing rooms with other students who do not speak the same language as them.  This helps students improve their English language ability and encourages them to mix with new friends.

Will you meet me at the airport at the start of the course, and take them back to it at the end?

Yes.  We offer a complementary airport transfer service from and to London Luton Airport (LTN), London Stansted Airport (STN) and London Heathrow Airport (LHR) between 09:00 and 17:00 on arrivals and departures days.
